Deputy Mayor of Development, responsible for the Municipality Kennel - Rhodes Club Mr. Giorgos Pokkias, awarded honorable distinctions and warmly thanked five Finnish volunteers who visit Rhodes every two or three times a year to offer volunteer services to the Rhodes Municipal Kennel of Rhodes, who have promised to promote adoptions and re-homing for stray dogs in their homeland.
Mr. Pokkias, recently announced that the new sterilization program funded by DAPS International Volunteers Organization has been recently renewed for the Municipal Kennel of Rhodes.
Additional news about the volunteers devoted to the island - Life is never without excitement for the local volunteers here on Rhodes, without their help the dogs & cats shelters would not exist. Funds are limited - every donation, large or small is greatly appreciated for the strays.
If it was not for all the volunteers, as in this case for DAPS, the island would be in serious trouble with the strays. The majority of the dogs and cats cared for are spayed or snipped, vaccinated in the hope to help them settle into a new home.
Look out for collection boxes/tins which can be found in vet surgeries/pet shops/tourist supermarkets and some hotels which are usually placed at the reception, every penny makes a difference!
