Since 2013 the first Butterfly Train was introduced to the Valley of the Butterflies (Petaloudes), one of the most beautiful locations on the island of RHODES.

The Butterfly Valley is visited by thousands of tourists seasonally, but the ‘Kalopetra’ Monastery due to the location is missed by the majority. Why? With a distance of 1.5 klm of steep climb to the summit it is virtually impossible to reach, even by those who choose to walk to the top of the valley.

Our convenient Butterfly Train can change that! With a circuit on the outskirts of the valley you can reached the summit, where you can visit this amazing the historical monastery ‘Kalopetra’ the (Good Stone) dedicated to the Virgin Mary, dating back to the 13th century.

This summer the visitors to the valley are strolling around enjoying the over- flow of the butterflies. According to past reports, more than a decade ago the butterflies have never been seen in this volume, such a wonderful show for everyone!

In spring the butterflies settled in the valley, the immense over-flow of the butterflies proves that there was sufficient water in the valley, much needed part of the butterflies’ survival.

The Butterfly Train is an enjoyable 10 minute ride to the top of the valley, convenient for couples, parents, grandparents and children alike.
