Greek Australian Lawyers hosted Conference in Rhodes

Over 400 delegates and other members of the international legal community gathered on the island of Rhodes in order to participate in the inaugural International legal conference hosted by the Hellenic Australian Legal Association.

The event’s opening ceremony took place earlier this month.   President of the Greek Republic, Prokopis Pavlopoulos officially opened the proceedings at the Grand Master’s Palace in the Old Town, alongside the mayor of Rhodes, Fotis Hatzidiakos.

Also present at this event was Australian Ambassador for Greece, Kate Logan who gave a speech regarding “the endurance of the Greek/ Australian bilateral relationship”.

The conference saw a number of keynote speeches by several members of the court system from both countries, including that of Susan Kiefel AC, Chief Justice of The High Court of Australia.

This year’s conference focused on the “Influence of Hellenism and Contemporary Legal Issues”.
