The tour takes place daily from 12:00-15:00 hrs. You should arrive at the entrance to the Palace of the Knights at 15 minutes early and be ready to set off. The tour takes off in the section of the perimeter from the Callachium, past St. Georges’ Tower, the Spanish Tower, St. Mary’s Tower, St. Athanasius Gate and terminates at Koskinou Gate (Kokkini Porta).
Over two centuries, the Knights strengthened the walls but constantly thickening them (they are up to 40 feet-13 meters – thick in some places) and curving them to deflect cannon balls. There are no protective railings so parents should take care with small children.
The moat never contained water it was simply a device to prevent invaders from constructing siege towers. The tour duration is approx., 1 hour, with 10 attractions and a walking distance 1.5 km. Costs € 2.00
