The mayor of Rhodes presides over more than a thousand civil weddings per year.  The Town Hall has special halls devoted to civil weddings and various other Municipality offices situated around the island.  The most popular venue in Rhodes is St. Paul’s Bay at the foot of the Acropolis in Lindos which gets booked up a long time in advance.

As part of its ongoing expansion strategy, the South Aegean Region is reaching out to the Chinese market, focusing on promoting Rhodes and the neighboring islands (Dodecanese) perfect destinations for weddings.

Recently the Vice Governor of Tourism, Marietta Papavasileiou welcomed to Rhodes a delegation from the Yunnan Province consisting of wedding tourism organizers and the Chinese media.

Local authorities are working on the groundwork for the promotion of the Greek islands for wedding and honeymoon destinations.  In preparation for a group wedding events already set to take place on Rhodes in October. 

This event will bring dozens of Chinese wedding planners, tourism professionals, government officials and the media to the island, casting the international spotlight on the South Aegean Region, while paving the way for partnerships between businesses in both regions.
